Leave it to the Brits to put a new twist on an old classic. This simultaneously sweet and spicy Manhattan is presented by the 5-star Athenaeum Hotel in Mayfair, London. Legend has it that the Manhattan originated in 1874 at a party held by Jennie Jerome (aka Lady Randolph Churchill, Winston Churchill’s mother), but she was pregnant with little Winnie at the time and unlikely to be kicking up her heels in the Big Apple. Regardless, we think he would have liked this variation.
