It’s #FinallyRyeday, and this week we present the Celestial Grin. If whiskey has been called “water held together by sunlight”, then this cocktail is one step closer to the sun.

The perfect spice of rye is married with bitter citrus notes, Sauternes – often known as “the sunshine of wine” – and hyssop flavors for a cocktail that tastes like the first day of summer.

 

 

1 dash orange bitters
1/4 oz Bittermen’s Amer Nouvelle
1/4 oz Benedictine
1 oz Sauternes
1 1/2 oz WhistlePig Straight Rye Whiskey

 

Stir all ingredients with ice until diluted to roundness. Strain into a cocktail glass – preferably one that shimmers as well as does this cocktail. Cheers!
