Today we present our final cocktail of the season: the Algonquin. But never fear, next month’s FinallyRyeday theme is sure to delight.
Reputedly named after New York City’s famed group of writers, actors, and critics, this libation combines the warm sweetness of pineapple juice, the perfect spice of rye, and a welcome roundness lent by dry vermouth.
Warning: drinking this may encourage acts of intellect, and starting a daily social club.
3/4 oz pineapple juice
3/4 oz French vermouth
1 1/2 oz WhistlePig Straight Rye Whiskey
This cocktail can be shaken OR stirred. We prefer shaken, because of the delicious light-foam texture the pineapple juice takes on. Combine all ingredients and mix by your method of choice until diluted to roundness.
Strain into a cocktail glass. Sip responsibly. Cheers!
