Is it a pig who should be on America’s got Talent? Is it a box for keeping referee equipment?

Once upon a time, while hiking in the Colorado Rockies, our Founder & CEO Raj Peter Bhakta collided with destiny. In this particular case, destiny took the form of a crazed Frenchman.

Raj was quietly enjoying his hike when a man threatened him with a baguette and tied Raj up using nothing but a beret. Ok – not really. The guy just popped up out of nowhere yelling:

“Deed you zee da WhistlePig?!”

Yes, really.

The Frenchman repeated his bizarre question and then, sensing that Raj clearly had not seen any sort of “Whistlepig”, he dashed away never to be seen or heard from again. At least, not by Raj.

This Frenchman’s query became one of Raj’s favorite memories, and a story he always enjoyed telling. So when it came time for Raj to name his new whiskey – he decided that fate had preordained it to be “WhistlePig”.

It wasn’t until much later that Raj discovered that a WhistlePig is a local term for a groundhog. Ready, Fire, Aim!
